11 Easy Ways to Prevent & Get Rid of Chest Wrinkles

Every woman remembers the moment when they notice their chest wrinkles—to be fair, it’s pretty traumatizing and reminds you that you’re getting old. 


They're the thing you notice on other women at first until one day you look in the mirror and think, "Where did THOSE come from?! Why do I have wrinkles on my chest?!"


You can call them ‘crinkles’ if you want to be cute, but honestly, it doesn’t make their presence any better. It’s also a little reminiscent of ‘cankles’ (which also, I am not a fan of). Some other cutesy variations are clinkles or chinkles—but there’s no way to dice it, what you’re really saying is chest wrinkles.  


If you’re lucky, you don’t have any yet—but that doesn’t mean you’re off scot-free. If you’re smart (and I bet you are) you’re looking for ways to prevent any from happening, plus possibly doing some research for your mom who might have a few already. 


The catch is before you figure out how to get rid of or stop chest creases, you need to know what causes them in the first place. You don't want to waste time and effort into getting rid of them, without stopping the habits that are causing them—or else you'll be going around in circles to no end!

What Causes Chest Wrinkles? 

Like with most wrinkles, chest wrinkles are caused by a changing of skin composition over time, usually combined with repetitive motion. When it comes to researching how to get rid of wrinkles on your chest, things aren't so straightforward. Certain factors affect that process, making wrinkles much more visible than they'd normally be.

 

They can be simple factors such as skin hydration, or they can take a little more effort to fix than just applying moisturizer. Some of them are under our control (which we can take the initiative to change!) and some are just how we are.   • Okay, now this is the hardest habit to break. Most people can’t sleep if they’re not curled up in a fetal position. However, it’s side sleeping plus gravity that are the culprits here.       We all knew about bringing skincare down to your neck, already, right? Well, the updated version is bringing down your skincare to your chest. I know—it's gonna make your entire skincare bill skyrocket, but again, it will be worth the combined treatment and prevention that your skincare will do for you. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Bringing your skincare down to your chest is one of the best tips on how to prevent chest wrinkles, ever. Chances are, you're already using anti-ageing products on your face. The best cream for chest wrinkles is something you probably already have. If you don't already have some anti-ageing products, some great anti-ageing ingredients to look for include retinol, Vitamin C, and peptides.   • Sleep On Your Back
  • According to sleep experts, sleeping on your back is the best position for your body. If you find Shavasana during yoga super relaxing, it's because your head, neck, and spine are totally neutral and relaxed. Do you know what else is totally neutral and relaxed? Your chest. The weight of it won't be skewed to one side, causing those pesky little creases that deepen into breast wrinkles.

Studies have observed that the skin of 40-year-old smokers closely resembles the skin of 70-year-old non-smokers—that's looking older than your real age by nearly thirty years! If that's not enough motivation to quit, I don't know what is. Quitting smoking is really one of the biggest tips out there on how to get rid of lines on your chest—probably for both men and women.  


  • Fraxel
  • If you're on the "I've already got wrinkles" side of the spectrum, don't worry— there are options for you. One of them is Fraxel—a non-invasive laser treatment that rejuvenates the skin from the inside out. It does more than just smooth out wrinkles though—it’s also great for evening out any pigmentation that might be in the area too, making it one of the best ways to remove chest wrinkles. These silicone patches stick right to your chest (or wherever you use them, you can get sizes for literally any part of your body) and smooth out wrinkles. They're multiple-use products, too—so while a little pricey, totally worth the investment for something you can reuse again.


    Over time, wrinkles should become far less noticeable as your skin is prevented from creasing. The only caveat is that you can’t use any skincare underneath it—at best, the silicone pad will slide off and at worst, could actually cause irritation to the skin underneath. 

  • Ensuring Your Bra Fits Correctly
  • While a push-up bra may make your girls look amazing, there is such a thing as too much cleavage. When boobs are forced together (from a push-up bra, sports bra, or a too-small bra) often enough, that repetitive motion could cause the same creases that you’d get from side-sleeping.

    Microneedling is something that should be done in an esthetician’s office for best results—while there are a lot of microneedle derma rollers available for purchase and use to consumers, using them incorrectly can be incredibly harmful to skin and cause unintended damage that requires more invasive procedures to correct.
